About OMI
The OMI optical machine interface is designed to reside in the machine's working envelope. Like the OMM,
its purpose is to send and receive infra-red probe signals.
The OMI has the added benefit of supplying totem pole (transistor) output, thus eliminating the need for
a separate MI 12 interface.
The OMI operates Renishaw's legacy transmission method. This has recently been superseded by a new
modulated optical transmission method, which provides the highest level of resistance to signal interference
from other light sources in the machine environment. Please refer to the new OMI and OMI-2T receiver units.

The OMI can be used with all the following inspection/setting probes for machining centres.
